It’s been almost exactly a century since the automotive industry has seen such a dramatic evolution in mechanics and technology, only rivaled by that of the original automotive boom in the pre-depression era. This time around, however, the advancements are occurring in the EV sector, which has seen the bar raised in performance and range several times over in the last year alone, with the latest envelope-pushing player being Audi, which just pulled the cover off of its higher-specced e-tron models with S and S Sportback variants.

Touted as the first production car with three electric motors–two in back and one up front—the new S-specs put down an impressive 496hp and 717ft-lbs of torque, allowing for 0-60mph runs in 4.5-seconds, while still offering a roughly 230-mile range which can be 80% replenished in just half-an-hour. The bodywork has also been tweaked, with wider, flared fenders that give the luxury SUV a more stanced appearance. Other standard fare found on both models include rear-axle torque vectoring, adaptive air suspension, six-piston calipers, and seven drive modes, including a drift configuration. Slated for a release this Fall, the 2021 Audi e-tron S, and e-tron S Sportback are priced at $108,400 and $111,000, respectively.

The new Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI has launched in its domestic market of Germany, with the initial units shipping standard in seven-speed DSG form.

So, what’s the starting price? Well, in Germany, the new GTI-badged hot hatch is now available to order from €37 607,38 (that’s around R745 000 at the prevailing exchange rate).

Whether or not that turns out to be a reliable indicator of the new Golf GTI’s price in South Africa remains to be seen, considering equipment levels will likely be slightly different when the eighth-generation hot hatch arrives early in 2021. For the record, though, VW SA’s outgoing Golf 7 GTI is currently priced at R614 200, with the limited-edition GTI TCR coming in at R669 000.

In Germany, the Wolfsburg-based firm’s Discover Media infotainment system is fitted as standard, while the 10-inch Discover Pro system is optionally available. The new multifunction leather sports steering wheel features touch controls and an optionally integrated Travel Assist button to allow “assisted driving” up to speeds of 210 km/h.

“For over four decades, the three letters ‘GTI’ have stood for sporty driving pleasure and technology at the highest level. We thank our customers for 2,3 million Golf GTI sold. The new GTI is full of innovation. It too will set new standards and thrill our customers,” said Jürgen Stackmann, member of the Volkswagen brand board of management responsible for sales.

As a reminder, the new Golf 8 GTI was unveiled (alongside the Golf 8 GTD) at the end of February 2020, sporting fresh styling, extra power and a quicker-shifting DSG transmission.

As before, the GTI draws its urge from a version of VW’s familiar EA888 engine. Here, though, the turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit has been tuned to deliver 180 kW (up from the SA-spec Golf 7 GTI’s peak output of 169 kW) and 370 N.m (some 20 N.m more than the outgoing model).

MOLSHEIM, FRANCE – French hypercar maker Bugatti is looking set for an electric future, following reports that Volkswagen plans to sell the brand to electric hypercar specialist Rimac.

The UK’s Car Magazine says its sources have confirmed that Volkswagen executives have already approved the deal, but the supervisory board still needs to sign it off.

Rimac is a Croation company that put its name on the map by creating the world’s first electric hypercar back in 2011. This initial model, the Concept One, was more recently followed up by the even more potent C_Two.

If the deal goes ahead, it would almost certainly mean an all-electric future for Bugatti, but that doesn’t mean that its hypercars will lose their manic performance edge. If anything the opposite is true. Consider that the Rimac C_Two’s four electric motors collectively produce 1408kW and 2300Nm, which is enough to get it from 0-96km/h in 1.85 seconds and from 0-160km/h in just 4.3s.

By comparison, Bugatti’s W16 petrol engine produces 1103kW and 1600Nm.

But why does VW want to sell Bugatti?

According to Car Magazine, the German auto giant no longer wants to throw money and resources at so-called ‘hobby brands’ that were acquired under former boss Ferdinand Piech – particularly in the wake of its massive post-Dieselgate electrification drive.

Another motivation would be to give the VW Group a bigger share in Rimac, which many have hailed as the Tesla of Europe. Porsche, which is also owned by VW, currently holds a 15.5 percent stake in Rimac, and it’s likely that Bugatti will serve as a bargaining chip to increase its share.

Nothing is official yet, but expect an announcement soon. But it also begs the question – if VW wants to off-load Bugatti, could other niche brands such as Lamborghini and Bentley also face the same fate?

Alo.rs je razgovarao sa Marijom, sestrom nestale Milice Grbić iz Batajnice. 

“Pozvala je mamu u 22 časa i rekla joj da spremi uniformu za posao na koji je trebala da ode ujutru. U tom trenutku na majčino pitanje gde se nalazi, rekla je da je u centru Batajnice. Nakon toga se više nije javljala, što nije bilo čudno, jer je znala da tako uveče izađe i vrati se oko ponoći kući. Kada se majka probudila videla je da Milice nema u krevetu, pa je pomislila da je otišla na posao u pekaru gde je počela da radi pre samo nedelju dana.” – kaže sestra nestale devojke za Alo.rs. 

“Oko 8,9 časova Milicin gazda pozvao je porodicu s pitanjem zašto njihova ćerka nije došla na posao.” – dodaje Marija. 

Milica je u noći nestanka na sebi imala belu haljinu, crnu jaknu, torbu, kao i crne čizmice.

Marija je potvrdila da je Milicin otac oko 20 časova sreo svoju ćerku u naselju Šangaj, u lokalnoj prodavnici.

U trenutku razgovora sa sestrom nestale stigla je informacija da je Milica viđena nešto oko 20 časova u centru Batajnice u društvu dva muškarca kod kioska brze hrane. Svedoci su naveli da ništa nije slutilo na ovaj ishod, i da jedan od njih grlio.

Porodica nestale devojke navodi da ona nije imala nikakve probleme, i da se ni na šta nije žalila. 

Kuminoj sestri je to isto veče rekla da bi trebalo da se sretne sa jednim dečkom iz naselja Progar kod Surčina.

Naime, u tom selu koje se nalazi u Sremu živi porodica koju čini samohrana majka sa četvoro dese i bolestan otac.

Kako je Milica navela, porodica živi u katastrofalnim uslovima, od socijalne pomoći i dečijih dodataka.

Najstarije dete ima 15 godina, drugo dete 13, treće 12, a najmlađe dete ima samo 10 godina.

– Oni žive u veoma lošim uslovima, od socijalne pomoci i dečijih dodataka. Druga primanja nemaju. Najstariji sin ima 15 godina, zatim drugo dete ima 13 godina, treci sin ima 12 godina i najmlađi 10 godina, napisala je Milica koja je i sama odrasla u Prhovu.

Deca se školuju, vrlo dobri su đaci, a najmlađi sin čak ide i kosi travu komšijama kako bi dobio neki džeparac.

– S obzirom da idu hladni dani, zamolila bih sve koji su u mogućnosti da poklone toplije stvari za te uzraste kao i obuću ( 44,43,42,38), napisala je Milica i zahvalila se svim dobrim ljudima od srca.

NEPOZNATE osobe pokušale su, u selu Babin Most kod Obilića, na silu da uguraju devojčicu srpske nacionalnosti u automobil.

Incident se dogodio oko 15:30 časova. Devojčica je uspela da se otrgne i utrči u najbliže dvorište, kazao je za Kosovo Onlajn direktor škole u Babinom Mostu Žarko Petrović. 

Deda devojčice pokušaj otmice prijavio je policiji tzv. Kosova.

Zbog preživljenog stresa devojčici je ukazana lekarska pomoć u Domu zdravlja u Prilužju, rekao je Petrović. 

Pokušaj otmice devojčice u Babinom Mostu uznemirio je meštane ovog sela.

Ovo je novi u nizu incidenata u srpskim sredinama na Kosovu.

Prethodno se dogodio pokušaj otmice srpskog dečaka u Plemetini, ali i pucnjava ispred škole u Donjoj Brnjici nadomak Prištine gde su se nalazila okupljena srpska deca.
